Trip Overview

Experience 13 days of meaningful service and cultural immersion as you say “Maloelelei” to the island nation of Tonga. The polynesian kingdom is rich with cultural history and beautiful geography.

Journey Size: 12 Students (6:1 Staff Ratio)

Language: 8 hours of 1-on-1 Tongan tutoring

Students Will…

-Practice speaking Tongan, as you interact with and support primary school students at a local school

-Experience the richness of Tongan culture, by participating in the ‘Oholei Beach Feast and Culture Show

-Clean up the school grounds and build new classrooms to support the needs of the growing community

-Visit historical Ha’amonga ‘a Maui landmark, built in the 13th century by a king of Tonga

-Learn the history of an island nation that was never conquered and never colonized

-Learn about the current political and social realities and challenges in Tonga over dinner with your Tongan host family

-Sample delectable local cuisine, and learn how to prepare traditional fare
